Ernesto Reynosa-Vasayez, 33, of Island Lake.

An Island Lake man is being held on a $1 million bond after he allegedly groomed a young child online and sexually assaulted her on two occasions, court documents allege.

Ernesto Reynosa-Vasayez, 33, of the 4000 block of Newport Drive in Island Lake, was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, three counts of criminal sexual assault, traveling to meet a minor, exploitation and grooming.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Reynosa-Vasayez used an online platform to entice a child to distribute sexually explicit photographs of herself in May.

The child sent the man the photos via Snapchat.

Reynosa-Vasayez traveled to engage in sexual conduct with the child on May 16 after using the online platform, the complaint said.

Reynosa-Vasayez allegedly sexually assaulted the child by committing several acts that day, the complaint said.

The man allegedly sexually assaulted the child again on May 22. The child was under the age of 13.

Officers with the Island Lake Police Department arrested Reynosa-Vasayez Thursday evening.

McHenry County Judge Tiffany Davis set the man’s bond at $1 million, meaning he would need to post $100,000 cash in order to be released.

Reynosa-Vasayez remains held in the McHenry County Jail as of Monday.

Reynosa-Vasayez’s public defender said in a motion that his client does not have the cash required to post bond and is seeking a reduced bond.

A hearing on the motion to reduce bond is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
