Police say a 63-year-old man suffered serious injuries and died shortly after he crashed his car into a pole, tree and fence in Buffalo Grove early Sunday morning.

The Buffalo Grove Police Department and Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded around 1:30 a.m. Sunday to the area of Arlington Heights Road and Dundee Road.

Emergency crews received a call for a Toyota SUV that was involved in a single-vehicle crash.

The Toyota had crashed into multiple objects, including a pole, fence mailbox and tree.

The driver, a 63-year-old man, was transported from the scene by ambulance to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

The man was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital, police and the medical examiner said.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and there were no other occupants in the vehicle, police said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Buffalo Grove Police Department and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
