A 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries after he was confronted by a group and shot multiple times in Zion Monday evening, police said.
The Zion Fire-Rescue Department and Zion Police Department responded around 10:45 p.m. Monday to the 2200 block of Hermon Avenue in Zion for a report of a shooting.
Zion Police Department Lt. Paul Kehrli told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that officers found a 19-year-old Zion man with multiple gunshot wounds.
A preliminary investigation shows the victim was outside walking in the area when he was confronted by several subjects.
At least one of the offenders fired shots at the victim and the group fled on foot, Kehrli said.
Paramedics transported the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, which is a level one trauma center.
His injuries were serious but non-life-threatening.
It appears the attack was targeted and not random, Kehrli said.
Detectives are actively searching for the suspects involved.
