A worker was flown to the hospital after he fell from a roof and suffered serious injuries near Woodstock on Tuesday, fire officials said.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded around 7:03 p.m. Tuesday to the 2400 block of Timberline Trail in unincorporated Woodstock.

Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communications Specialist Alex Vucha said a man was reported to have fallen off a house.

The man, who did not reside at the residence, was working on the residential roof.

Paramedics arrived within six minutes and located the victim, who had fallen approximately 25 feet, Vucha said.

The man had suffered serious injuries as a result of the incident.

A LifeNet medical helicopter was requested due to the extent of the injuries.

The helicopter landed nearby at Greenwood Elementary School, 4618 Greenwood Road.

Paramedics and the flight crew transferred the victim from an ambulance to the helicopter, Vucha said.

The patient was subsequently flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, which is a level one trauma center.

The cause of the fall was not immediately known and remains under investigation.
