Fire officials say one person was injured and had to be transported to the hospital after a large box truck rolled over near Marengo Thursday morning.

The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 7:43 a.m. Thursday to Route 20 and Church Road in unincorporated Marengo.

Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said crews received a call for a vehicle crash with entrapment.

Firefighters arrived to find a large box truck on its side approximately 10 feet off the roadway.

No other vehicles were involved.

Both occupants of the truck were able to free themselves from the rolled-over vehicle prior to emergency crews arriving.

The passenger of the truck suffered moderate but non-life-threatening injuries.

They were transported to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley for treatment.

The driver of the truck was evaluated at the scene but refused medical transport.

Westbound Church Road from Route 20 was closed for over two hours while the scene was cleared.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
