A 64-year-old woman was arrested after police say she spit on and punched a firefighter-paramedic during a call at the Metra station in Harvard.

The Harvard Police Department responded around 1:35 p.m. Tuesday to the Harvard Metra station, 1 North Ayer Street.

The Harvard Fire Protection District was called to the scene a short time later for a person needing a psychiatric evaluation.

Kathleen E. Olson, 64, of the 300 block of Countrybrook Lane in Harvard, allegedly spit on a firefighter-paramedic’s hand as he guarded his face, according to a criminal complaint.

Olson also allegedly used her fist to punch the paramedic in the chest, the complaint said.

Olson was transported to a local hospital and later arrested by officers upon her release.

She was transported to the McHenry County Jail early in the morning on Wednesday.

Olson was charged with two counts of aggravated battery, a Class 2 felony.

McHenry County Judge Tiffany Davis ordered Olson held on a $15,000 bond, meaning she would need to post $1,500 cash to be released.

Following a motion filed by a public defender representing Olson, Davis reduced Olson’s bond on Friday to a personal recognizance bond.

Olson, who was released from jail Friday, is scheduled to appear in court again on July 22 for a preliminary hearing.
