A 47-year-old Round Lake Park man is hospitalized in serious condition after a two-vehicle crash left one car on its side on Route 12 in North Barrington Friday afternoon. Two others were also hospitalized.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Wauconda Fire District responded around 2:10 p.m. Friday to Route 12 and Wynstone Drive in North Barrington for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Deputies arrived and found a Chevrolet Traverse and a Toyota Prius with heavy damage in the southbound lanes of Route 12, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Ari Briskman.

The preliminary investigation showed the driver of the Chevrolet, a 20-year-old North Barrington woman, was turning northbound onto Route 12 when the Toyota, which was traveling southbound on Route 12, struck her vehicle.

The collision caused the Chevrolet to roll over onto its side.

Paramedics transported the driver of the Toyota, a 47-year-old Round Lake Park man, to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with major injuries, Briskman said.

He has since been stabilized in serious condition.

The driver and a passenger of the Chevrolet, a 13-year-old North Barrington girl, were both transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with minor injuries, Briskman added.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigation Unit.
