Bond was set at $1 million for a Waukegan man accused of sexually assaulting a family member, who is under the age of 13, for numerous years. The victim is now six months pregnant, prosecutors said.

Jorge Hernandez-Chirinos of Waukegan was charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13 and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 13.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Lindsay Hicks said during a bond hearing on July 1 that the victim is under 13 years of age and is a family member of Hernandez-Chirinos.

Hernandez-Chirinos allegedly began sexually assaulting the victim multiple times when she was eight years old.

The man allegedly raped the child in December 2021. The victim is currently six months pregnant, Hicks said.

In May, Hernandez-Chirinos allegedly sexually assaulted the victim after she took a shower and was getting ready for school, Hicks added.

Lake County Judge Raymond Collins set Hernandez-Chirino’s bond at $1 million.

Hicks asked Collins to increase Hernandez-Chirino’s bond to $2 million, saying he poses a flight risk and may flee to Honduras, but that request was denied.

Collins ordered Hernandez-Chirino to not have contact with anyone under the age of 18.

He also cannot have contact with schools, daycares or parks.

Hernandez-Chirino remains held at the Lake County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 27 for a preliminary hearing.
