The major investigation assistance team is investigating after a gunman walked up to a house in Huntley and shot two men early Monday morning, police said.

The Huntley Police Department responded around 4:18 a.m. Monday to the 11800 block of Cape Cod Lane in Huntley for a report of shots fired.

The Huntley Fire Protection District was also sent to the scene after a report of two people shot.

Officers secured the scene and confirmed the offender had left prior to their arrival, Deputy Police Chief Linda Hooten said.

Officers provided medical aid to two adult male victims who were later transported by ambulance to area hospitals.

A preliminary investigation showed the offender drove to the house and approached the front door when gunfire ensued, Hooten said.

The offender fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.
