A 4-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after he became trapped under a train ride during the Antioch Taste of Summer event Saturday evening.

The Antioch Fire Department responded around 9:05 p.m. Saturday to the carnival at the Antioch Taste of Summer Festival, located in the 900 block of Skidmore Drive in Antioch, for a report of a child trapped under a ride.

Antioch Fire Chief Jon Cokefair told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that firefighters arrived and the 4-year-old boy was already removed from under the train by a bystander.

According to fire radio traffic, the incident occurred at a ride called “Kiddie Train.”

Antioch police officers were already on the scene at the event.

Paramedics evaluated the boy and transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life-threatening injuries, Cokefair said.

It is unknown how the boy became trapped under the ride.
