Firefighters, with the help of a sprinkler system, were able to extinguish a fire inside a large warehouse in Vernon Hills early Monday morning, authorities said.

The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District responded around 4:24 a.m. Monday to Automotive Keys Group, 633 Hickory Hill Drive in Vernon Hills, for a fire alarm.

Firefighters arrived to find a large office and warehouse structure.

They entered it and found smoke throughout the building.

The alarm was elevated to a working fire response, which brought additional firefighters from Deerfield, Countryside, Buffalo Grove, Lake Forest, Wheeling, Libertyville, Lake Zurich and Long Grove.

The automatic sprinkler system activated and kept the fire from growing until emergency crews could completely extinguish the fire.

A special mobile ventilation unit was called to the scene to assist in the removal of a large amount of smoke.

Investigators from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods and Countryside fire departments were on the scene working to determine the cause of the fire.

The Vernon Hills Police Department also assisted at the scene.

A damage estimate was not available. No injuries were reported.
