State officials say that a lottery player who bought their ticket in the northwest suburbs of Chicago has won the $1.28 billion jackpot in the Mega Millions drawing.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Speedway, 885 East Touhy Avenue in Des Plaines, about 20 minutes south of Lake County.

The winning numbers were 13 – 36 – 45 – 57 – 67 and MegaBall 14.

The $1.28 billion prize is the largest lottery prize ever won in Illinois and the third largest lottery prize ever won in the United States.

The retailer who sold the winning ticket will receive $500,000.

The State of Illinois will also receive a portion of the money that goes towards public education and other causes.

Another Illinois Lottery player won $1 million in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing.

The $1 million winning ticket was sold at SRB Food Mart at 1625 Taft Ave in Berkeley.

SRB Food Mart will receive a cash bonus of $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.

That is the fourth Illinois Lottery player to win a million-dollar prize with Mega Millions so far this year, officials said.

Excluding the Friday jackpot, over 390,000 Illinois Lottery players won prizes totaling more than $2.5 million.

The Illinois Lottery said they encourage those who bought their Mega Millions ticket from the Speedway in Des Plaines to check their ticket.

The winner should sign the back of the ticket, seek professional and legal advice, then make an appointment with the Illinois Lottery to claim their prize, officials said.

The winner has 12 months from the date of the draw to claim their prize, but they only have 60 days from the date of the draw to choose the cash option or annual payments.
