Jessyle Angel, 18, of Waukegan.

A woman is facing charges after she allegedly attacked her mother and then kicked police officers who tried to arrest her in Waukegan, leaving the officers injured.

Jessyle Angel, 18, of Waukegan, was charged with two counts of domestic battery causing bodily harm and resisting a peace officer.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Kelse Banks said during a bond hearing that Angel arrived at her Waukegan home intoxicated on Friday.

Angel allegedly went into her mother’s bedroom and began screaming at her mother about trying to find her cell phone.

Angel took her mother’s cell phone and began pulling her mother’s hair and scratching her face, Banks said.

Officers arrived and found hair on the floor and a scratch on the victim’s face.

Officers attempted to arrest Angel but she allegedly began to kick and pull away from officers.

Angel kicked one of the officers in the knee hard enough that it caused their legs to buckle, Banks said.

Two officers had injuries to their knees. They were evaluated by paramedics for their injuries.

Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Angel held on a $50,000 bond.

Angel remains held in the Lake County Jail and would need to post $5,000 cash in order to be released.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 24.
