The sheriff’s office says that a sedan turned in front of a motorcycle, killing the 56-year-old motorcyclist and leaving two others injured, near Marengo Saturday evening.

The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts, Woodstock Fire Rescue District, Union Fire Protection District, McHenry County Conservation Police Department and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 7:10 p.m. Saturday to Route 176 and Franklinville Road in unincorporated Marengo.

The sheriff’s office said Tuesday that the incident involved a 2007 BMW 328i and a 2005 Ultra Classic Harley Davidson CVO motorcycle.

A preliminary investigation shows the BMW was traveling eastbound on Route 176 at Franklinville Road.

The BMW, driven by a 21-year-old Palatine woman, attempted to turn left onto northbound Franklinville Road, the sheriff’s office said.

The Harley Davidson, driven by a 56-year-old Walworth, Wisconsin man, was traveling westbound and collided with the BMW.

Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts Communications Specialist Alex Vucha said a medical helicopter was initially requested to the scene, however, it was later canceled.

The 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two people who were in the BMW were evaluated and transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley, Vucha said.

Those two occupants suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.

Sheriff’s deputies shut down Route 176 between Peterson Olson Road and McCue Road for several hours while a crash investigation was conducted.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.

The investigation is ongoing and being investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit.
