An Arlington Heights man is facing charges after he allegedly kicked a police officer in the head and resisted arrest from officers at a business in Crystal Lake.

Adam R. Schuster, 32, of the 1600 block of East Central Road in Arlington Heights, was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and criminal trespass to building.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges that Schuster trespassed at Play It Again Sports, 6128 Northwest Highway in Crystal Lake.

Officers were called to the business around 3 p.m. Wednesday after the man refused to leave when asked by an employee.

Officers told Schuster he was under arrest and the man used “physical force in an attempt to prevent the arrest,” the complaint said.

Schuster kicked an officer in the head during the struggle, the complaint said.

It is unknown if the officer sustained any injuries.

Court records show Schuster had been arrested on Tuesday for criminal trespass to a residence in the 900 block of Kendallwood Drive in Crystal Lake.

During that incident, he allegedly damaged a door, lamp and window and then resisted arrest.

Schuster was released from jail around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday after posting 10% of a $10,000 bond.

McHenry County Judge Mark Gerhardt ordered Schuster held on a $50,000 bond for his new charges during a Thursday morning bond hearing.

Schuster remains held in the McHenry County Jail and would need to post $5,000 cash in order to be released.

A status of preliminary hearing is scheduled to occur on Friday.
