A Crystal Lake man was arrested after he allegedly spat onto a nurse and then struck a security guard at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry.

Cody M. Behrens, 28, of the 2700 block of Walkup Road in Crystal Lake, was charged with aggravated battery to a nurse, a Class 2 felony, and battery making physical conduct, a Class A misdemeanor.

A criminal complaint alleged Behrens committed battery against a female nurse at the hospital by spitting in her face.

The complaint said Behrens also struck a male security officer two times in the chest with his hand.

The incident happened on July 30, court records show.

The nurse and security guard were not injured.

Officers with the McHenry Police Department responded and arrested Behrens around 12:55 a.m. July 31.

McHenry County Judge Mark Gerhardt ordered the man held on a $20,000 bond.

Behrens was released from the McHenry County Jail after posting 10% of his $20,000 bond last Monday.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 14.
