No one is in custody after an 18-year-old man from Zion was shot multiple times in North Chicago and died Saturday evening, authorities said.

The North Chicago Police Department responded around 7 p.m. Saturday to the 1400 block of Park Avenue in North Chicago for a report of shots fired.

Officers arrived and found evidence that a shooting occurred on the block.

Officers learned that a victim, an 18-year-old man, had already been transported to an area hospital.

The man had been driven by a friend, who was in the area when the shooting occurred, police said.

Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton said the victim, LaParis Moore, was being treated in the intensive care unit of the hospital due to his injuries.

Moore had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead just before midnight Saturday.
