A teenager and another person were both hospitalized after being wounded in a shooting outside an apartment building in Waukegan late Friday evening.

The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police Department responded around 11:55 p.m. Friday to the area of Julian Street and Genesee Street for a report of a shooting.

The shooting occurred outside of Lakeside Towers, 300 Julian Street.

Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Joe Florip told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that two people were shot.

Paramedics transported the victims to a local hospital.

An adult in their late teens and another subject, who is in their 20s, were stabilized at the hospital.

Conditions for the victims were not immediately available.

The two victims were outside of the building when they were shot, Florip said.

According to fire department radio traffic, one of the victims was possibly shot in the head and the other was shot in the leg.

No one is in custody and further details were not available.

The incident remains under investigation by the Waukegan Police Department.
