Marvin A. Simelton, 35, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

A repair technician was arrested after he allegedly groped a pregnant employee at a clothing store in Waukegan and pulled down her pants, prosecutors said.

Marvin A. Simelton, 35, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was charged with aggravated battery to a pregnant or handicapped person and aggravated battery in a public place, both felonies.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Dino Katris said in court on Tuesday that Simelton is employed as a repair technician and was performing repairs at rue21, located at 1305 North Lewis Avenue in Waukegan.

Simelton asked a woman, who was working at the store and is 33 weeks pregnant, about her pregnancy.

Simelton reached out and touched the woman’s stomach without her permission, Katris said.

The victim tried to create space but allegedly Simelton continued touching the woman’s stomach.

He then moved one of his hands toward her vaginal area and attempted to pull the woman’s shirt up, Katris said.

Simelton pulled down the woman’s pants and then followed the woman and grabbed her buttocks, Katris said.

Officers with the Waukegan Police Department responded to the scene Monday and arrested the man, court records show.

Lake County Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Simelton held on a $100,000 bond, meaning he would need to post $10,000 cash to be released.

Simelton remains held in the Lake County Jail as of Saturday evening.
