Police are investigating after a gunman fired shots into another car while the two cars traveled on Route 41 in Highland Park Monday afternoon.

The Highland Park Police Department responded around 2:13 p.m. Monday to the area of Route 41 and Central Avenue in Highland Park.

Police officials said it was reported that shots were fired during a driving dispute.

A preliminary investigation showed that the complainant was traveling in his vehicle southbound on Skokie Valley Road near the 1900 block.

A suspect produced a black handgun and fired two rounds in the complainant’s direction, officials said.

One round struck the complainant’s vehicle. No one was injured.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was last seen exiting Skokie Valley Road to eastbound Central Avenue.

Police thoroughly searched the area and were unable to locate the vehicle.
