A man suffered minor injuries and was cited after police say he caused a crash involving a jet ski and a boat on Nippersink Lake near Fox Lake.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. Saturday on Nippersink Lake near the Route 12 bridge near the Village of Fox Lake.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said a Sunsation 288 was traveling southbound on the lake.

The boat, which was operated by a 58-year-old Itasca man, struck a Sea-Doo PWC.

The jet ski had also been traveling in the southbound direction when it turned into the path of the boat.

Numerous witnesses and evidence at the scene confirmed the version of events, Covelli said.

The Sea-Doo was operated by Alejandro Valladares, 35, of the 0-100 block of Lippincott Road in Fox Lake.

Valladares sustained minor injuries and was transported by a Fox Lake Fire Protection District ambulance to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital.
