An employee at an elementary school on the north side of Waukegan was found unresponsive in an office Wednesday and pronounced dead at the hospital.
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon at Little Fort Elementary School, located at 1775 Blanchard Road in Waukegan.
The school administration sent a letter to families and staff members regarding the situation.
A Little Fort employee was found unresponsive in a private office at the school by a colleague.
The Waukegan Fire Department was called to the school and paramedics transported the employee to a local hospital.
The employee was pronounced dead while at the hospital, the letter said.
The school said they are withholding the employee’s name and other information about the incident out of respect for the employee’s family.
“We understand the news of this event is shocking and unexpected, and may be difficult for many students and staff members,” the administration said.
The school district’s mental health response team is being made available Thursday at Little Fort for students and staff seeking assistance.
“Thank you, please know we are keeping the entire Little Fort community in our thoughts and prayers,” the school said.
