A convicted felon was sentenced to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to kicking his elderly father in the head in Lake in the Hills, court documents show.
Daniel V. DeFrancisco, 36, of the 300 block of Council Trail in Lake in the Hills, was charged last month with two counts of aggravated battery of a victim over 60 and two counts of aggravated domestic battery.
Prosecutors said that DeFrancisco got into an argument with a man on July 4.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges DeFrancisco kicked the victim in the head.
The victim, who is DeFrancisco’s father and is in his late 60s, suffered an injury during the incident, the complaint said.
Officers with the Lake in the Hills Police Department arrested DeFrancisco and he has been held in the McHenry County Jail since his arrest.
Court records show DeFrancisco had three prior convictions for domestic battery at the time of his arrest.
The previous convictions were in 2012 and 2015 in McHenry County and 2019 in Boone County.
DeFrancisco recently entered into a negotiated plea deal with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
He pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated battery of a victim over 60, a Class 3 felony.
McHenry County Judge James Cowlin sentenced DeFrancisco on Thursday to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
The sentence will be served at 50% under truth-in-sentencing guidelines.
