A 62-year-old woman was unconscious after suffering serious injuries when a pickup truck slammed into the rear of two stopped cars near Round Lake, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District responded around 3:15 p.m. Saturday to the area of Route 134 and Harrison Avenue in unincorporated Round Lake.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli said sheriffโ€™s deputies arrived and located three vehicles with major damage.

A preliminary investigation shows a 2006 Toyota SUV, driven by a 69-year-old Round Lake woman, had stopped to turn left into a private driveway.

A 2010 Kia sedan, driven by a 62-year-old Ingleside woman, was behind the Toyota and slowed down before coming to a stop, Covelli said.

A 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck was behind the Kia and failed to slow down.

“In fact, there was no evidence located that [the driver] applied the brakes,” Covelli said.

The front of the Chevrolet struck the Kia and the Kia then struck the Toyota.

Covelli said the driver of the Kia sustained serious injuries in the crash and was unconscious for a period of time before paramedics arrived.

She was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Chevrolet was driven by Miguel A. Sanchez-Bibian, 38, of the 36700 block of North Green Bay Road in Waukegan.

Sanchez-Bibian was charged with driving on a revoked driverโ€™s license, driving without insurance and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

He was released with a mandatory branch court appearance.
