Authorities say a driver was flown to the hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash that caused his car to roll over in Fox Lake Wednesday evening.

The Fox Lake Fire Protection District and Fox Lake Police Department responded around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday to State Park Road and Main Street in Fox Lake for a vehicle crash with injuries.

Fox Lake Police Chief Jimmy Lee told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that the crash involved a 2014 Nissan Sentra and a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck.

The driver of the Nissan, an Ingleside man, was traveling northbound on State Park Road.

The Chevrolet, driven by a McHenry man, had been stopped at the stop sign facing southbound, Lee said.

The driver of the Nissan lost control of his vehicle and struck the Chevrolet.

After the collision, the Nissan rolled over into the ditch before coming to a stop upright.

A LifeNet medical helicopter was called to the scene and landed next to Whiskey Waters bar, 7237 State Park Road in Spring Grove.

The driver of the Nissan was trapped inside his vehicle and firefighters had to extricate him.

Lee said the man suffered life-threatening injuries and the flight crew transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Alcohol and/or drugs are suspected to be a factor in the crash, Lee said.

No signs of intoxication were noted on the driver of the Chevrolet, who was not seriously injured.
