Police say a resident returned to their home in Riverwoods to find it being burglarized by a masked suspect, who then fled the scene.

The Riverwoods Police Department responded around 5:20 p.m. on August 18 to the 1900 block of Strenger Lane in Riverwoods.

Riverwoods Police Chief Bruce Dayno said a person called 911 to report a burglary in progress.

The resident had returned home to find a silver SUV parked in their driveway.

A masked subject was seen getting into the car and fleeing northbound on Strenger Lane, Dayno said.

Responding officers found forced entry and evidence that the home had been gone through.

It was unknown what had been taken at the time of the report, Dayno said.

No suspects were taken into custody.

The incident remains under investigation by the Riverwoods Police Department.
