A Mundelein man was released from custody after a judge lowered his bond from $1 million to $75,000 for charges of sexual abuse of a child, court records show.
Oscar Najera-Acosta, 21, of the 800 block of Walnut Street in Mundelein, was charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child, a Class 2 felony.
A criminal complaint filed in Lake County Circuit Court alleges Najera-Acosta committed an act of sexual penetration on a female victim.
Najera-Acosta also committed a separate act of sexual conduct and a separate act of sexual penetration with the same victim, the complaint said.
The acts occurred between October 2021 and March 2022. The child was under 17 years old.
The case was investigated by detectives with the Mundelein Police Department.
Charges were approved and an arrest warrant was issued on August 8.
The judge who signed the warrant set bond at $1 million.
Najera-Acosta was taken into custody and during an August 15 bond hearing, Lake County Judge James Simonian reduced the bond to $75,000.
Najera-Acosta was processed in the Lake County Jail and released the same day after posting 10% of his bond, court records show.
Simonian ordered Najera-Acosta to have no contact with any children and no contact with any parks, daycares or schools.
A status of preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 14.
