State police say the driver of a vehicle was transported to the hospital after the car hit a concrete barrier on Interstate 94 near Gurnee and rolled over.

The Gurnee Fire Department and Newport Fire Protection District responded around 8:50 a.m. Sunday to Interstate 94 at mile marker 6.75 in Gurnee.

Illinois State Police District 15 troopers also responded to the call.

A preliminary investigation shows a white SUV was traveling in the westbound lanes of Interstate 94.

The vehicle lost control for an unknown reason and struck the left concrete median barrier, state police said.

The vehicle rolled over and ended upright. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle on their own.

Paramedics transported the driver to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The two left lanes were shut down for an investigation around 8:59 a.m. They were reopened by 9:20 a.m. after a tow truck towed the vehicle.
