A woman was hospitalized in unknown condition after she crashed her motorcycle into a car while traveling in oncoming traffic on Route 173 in Fox Lake, police said.
The Fox Lake Fire Protection District, Spring Grove Fire Protection District and Fox Lake Police Department responded to the incident, which occurred around 8:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Fox Lake Deputy Police Chief Dawn Deservi told Lake and McHenry County Scanner the crash happened on Route 173 approximately a half-mile east of Wilmot Road.
A motorcycle was traveling westbound on Route 173 and a vehicle was traveling in the eastbound lane.
The motorcycle crossed over into the path of the car, striking it, Deservi said.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 38-year-old woman, was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Deservi said the woman’s condition was not known but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
No one in the vehicle was injured in the crash, which left significant damage to the motorcycle and moderate damage to the car.
The Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County (MCAT) was called to the scene to assist the Fox Lake Police Department.
Route 173 from Wilmot Road to Converse Road was shut down for several hours due to the crash investigation.
The roadway was reopened by 1 a.m. Thursday.
Deservi said no citations have been issued and no charges have been filed yet because the investigation is still ongoing.
In June, a 31-year-old man died during a motorcycle crash on the same stretch of Route 173.
