A Crystal Lake mother was arrested after she allegedly left her infant and toddler both unattended in a car at Walmart in Algonquin.
The incident happened on August 16 at the Walmart Supercenter, 1410 South Randall Road in Algonquin.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said a 7-month-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were placed in circumstances that endangered their life or health.
The two children were left unattended in a vehicle for at least 16 minutes in the Walmart parking lot, the complaint said.
The mother of the children, Amber N. Gonzalez, 30, of the 0-100 block of Barberry Drive in Crystal Lake, was the one who left them in the car, the complaint added.
Further details on the incident were not available.
Gonzalez was arrested and charged with two counts of causing a child to be endangered, a Class A misdemeanor, according to court documents filed in court late last month.
Gonzalez was processed at the Algonquin Police Department and released on a $100 personal recognizance bond.
She is expected to appear in court on September 21 for a plea hearing.
