Officers tased a man after finding him armed with a gun and threatening to shoot it at an intersection in Highland Park Wednesday evening.

The Highland Park Police Department received 911 calls for an armed subject around 5:17 p.m. Wednesday.

The callers reported an individual who was threatening to use a firearm at Deerfield Road and Lilac Lane in Highland Park.

Highland Park Communications Manager Amanda Civitello said officers arrived and began de-escalation tactics.

Officers eventually deployed a taser and the subject was taken into custody without further incident.

No shots were fired during the incident.

“There is no further threat to the community,” Civitello said.

Further information on the incident was not immediately released.

It is unknown if any charges have been filed yet or if there will be charges filed.

Earlier in the day Wednesday in an unrelated incident, officers responded to a call for a well-being check at 1850 Green Bay Road in Highland Park.
