Khadijah Burt, 27, of Waukegan.

Prosecutors say a woman pepper-sprayed, punched and cut a victim with a knife during a robbery in Waukegan that left the victim with injuries.

Khadijah Burt, 27, of Waukegan, was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Daly said the incident occurred on September 3 in Waukegan.

Burt approached the victim at an intersection and demanded money, Daly said.

Burt sprayed the female victim with pepper spray, pulled her hair and punched her in the face, Daly said.

Daly said that Burt then pulled a knife out and cut the victim on her left wrist.

Burt allegedly fled in a vehicle and officers observed the car fleeing the scene.

Officers found Burt with blood stains, waded up cash and an empty pepper spray bottle.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, Daly said during a bond hearing.

The victim was later able to positively identify Burt as the suspect.

Lake County Judge Stacey Seneczko ordered Burt held on a $50,000 bond, meaning she would need to post 10% to be released.

Burt remains held in the Lake County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court again on September 27 for a preliminary hearing.
