A driver was transported to the hospital after crashing into the rear of a trailer that was carrying pumpkins near Woodstock Saturday evening, fire officials said.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 8:35 p.m. Saturday to Franklinville Road and Kunde Road in unincorporated Woodstock.

Woodstock Fire/Rescue District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said the fire district received a call for a motor vehicle crash with airbag deployment.

Firefighters arrived to find a rear-end style collision just south of the intersection on Franklinville Road.

The crash involved a sedan and a tractor pulling flatbed trailers.

The flatbed trailers were loaded with pumpkins when the collision occurred, Vucha said.

The driver of the sedan was the sole occupant of their vehicle and suffered minor injuries.

The sedan driver was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital.

The tractor driver was uninjured during the collision, Vucha said.

Franklinville Road was closed in both directions for over an hour until the scene could be cleared.

The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
