A Carpentersville man allegedly flushed drugs down a toilet at the Crystal Lake Police Department after being arrested Friday, court records show.

Myrance Thomas, 46, of the 100 block of Granada Road in Carpentersville, was charged with obstructing justice by destroying evidence, possession of a controlled substance and driving without a license.

Crystal Lake police conducted a traffic stop on a 2017 Lincoln MKC around 7:50 p.m. Friday.

The stop occurred on eastbound Route 176 near Elmhurst Road in Crystal Lake.

Thomas, who was the driver of the vehicle, had no driver’s license, court documents show.

The man also had an active warrant charging him with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a Class 1 felony, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony.

The warrant was issued in early August following an investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers arrested Thomas and transported him to the Crystal Lake Police Department.

He was placed in a temporary holding cell, according to a criminal complaint.

Thomas allegedly flushed cocaine down a toilet in the cell around 8:30 p.m. that evening, the complaint said.

Officers transported Thomas to the McHenry County Jail where he was ordered held on an $82,500 bond.

Thomas remains held in the jail and would need to post $8,250 cash in order to be released.

A status of preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
