A child and a woman were both transported to the hospital after a head-on crash involving a minivan and SUV on Route 14 near Harvard Sunday morning.
The Harvard Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10:21 a.m. Sunday to the 9500 block of Route 14 in unincorporated Harvard.
Harvard Fire Protection District Communication Specialist Alex Vucha said it was reported that two vehicles crashed and there had been airbag deployment.
Crews arrived to find two vehicles that had crashed head-on and had moderate damage.
The vehicles were blocking the roadway on Route 14 north of Oak Grove Road.
The female driver of the Toyota minivan was transported to Mercyhealth Hospital in Harvard, Vucha said.
An additional ambulance was requested to the scene from Hebron to transport the child in the Toyota minivan to Mercyhealth Hospital.
The two had “minor to moderate” injuries, Vucha said.
The female driver of the Chevrolet SUV was evaluated at the scene but declined transport to the hospital.
Route 14 was closed in both directions for nearly an hour before both vehicles could be removed from the scene.
