City officials are telling residents to shelter in place as a heavy police presence converged on a residential street in Highland Park Friday afternoon.
The City of Highland Park issued a community advisory around 12:55 p.m. about a situation in the 1300 block of St. Johns Avenue.
The city said “the incident” is contained to a residence on the street.
Residents in the area were asked to stay indoors and to follow police directions.
Those who do not live in the area are asked to stay away, the city said.
Bystanders reported that officers have blocked St. Johns Avenue from Lincoln Avenue West to Wade Street.
A resident reported that the situation was possibly a standoff between police and a man, who was inside a house.
The city did not provide further information on the incident.
