The Lake County Major Crime Task Force is investigating after a man was found dead with “suspicious” injuries on the shoreline of Lake Michigan near Lake Forest Saturday morning.

The Highland Park Police Department received a call of an unconscious person around 5:10 a.m. Saturday in the 0-100 block of Cliff Road in Highland Park.

Officers arrived and found an adult male deceased near the shoreline of Lake Michigan.

Lake County Major Crime Task Force Spokesman Christopher Covelli said it was determined the location of the incident was Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve in unincorporated Lake Forest, which is in the jurisdiction of the Lake County Forest Preserve Police.

The Lake County Forest Preserve Police responded and are taking the lead in the death investigation.

Lake County Forest Preserve Police requested the assistance of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force due to injuries located on the man’s body.

Covelli said the man’s injuries are considered suspicious.

Lake County Forest Preserve Police and Lake County Major Crime Task Force investigators are actively investigating the incident.

There are no indications there is a threat to the community, Covelli said.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office is scheduling an autopsy.

Additional details are expected to be released following the preliminary investigation.
