Police are investigating after an apparent stray bullet reportedly went through a child’s bedroom at a residence in Huntley last weekend.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. on September 10 in the 8400 block of North Route 47 in Huntley.

According to police radio traffic, the bullet went through a child’s bedroom window.

No injuries were reported.

Officers with the Huntley Police Department and deputies with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene.

Huntley Deputy Police Chief Linda Hooten told Lake and McHenry County Scanner on Friday that the investigation is still ongoing.

It appeared the bullet was fired from “quite a distance” away from the house, Hooten said.

The shooting was not believed to be intentionally targeted at the home.

Hooten said there are several unincorporated fields behind the residence where it may have come from.
