A driver was transported to the hospital after his box truck rolled over on an exit ramp from Interstate 90 near Marengo Tuesday morning.
The Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts and Illinois State Police responded around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday to Route 23 and Interstate 90.
Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts Communications Specialist Alex Vucha said the department received a call of a rollover crash with entrapment.
Firefighters arrived to find a large box truck rolled on its side along the westbound exit ramp from Interstate 90.
Illinois State Police said the truck was traveling on the ramp when the driver lost control.
The truck swerved to the right, striking two traffic posts and a light pole.
The truck continued on the ramp, swerved to the left and drove off the roadway into the ditch, striking the cable system and another light pole.
The truck came to a rest on its driver’s side after rolling over, state police said.
The male truck driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was able to self-extricate himself before firefighters arrived.
The man was transported to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford with minor injuries, Vucha said.
It was not known whether any citations had been issued.
The Illinois State Police is investigating the cause of the crash.
