State police said the driver of a motorcycle suffered life-threatening injuries after he crashed into a wall on Interstate 94 near Gurnee Wednesday afternoon.

The Gurnee Fire Department, Libertyville Fire Department and Illinois State Police responded to the incident around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The single-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 94 just north of Route 120 near Gurnee.

A motorcycle was traveling in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 when the driver lost control, according to Illinois State Police.

The motorcycle hit the median wall before coming to a rest on the ground at milepost 11.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

A state trooper that came upon the crash reported that the victim was unconscious and “barely breathing.”

Paramedics transported the man by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The man’s condition was not released but state police said his injuries were life-threatening.

It is unknown if any citations were issued or if any charges will be filed.

The two left lanes of eastbound Interstate 94 were shut down for several hours for a crash investigation.

The interstate was reopened around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
