An employee of a business in Buffalo Grove was arrested after he allegedly stole dozens of tablets, worth almost $90,000, from his workplace, prosecutors said.
Jose J. Delgado, 47, of the 3500 block of Wembley Drive in Zion, was charged with one count of theft over $10,000 and one count of burglary.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Manuel Mandujano said Delgado was suspended by his employer following a theft.
The company, Midmark Corporation in Buffalo Grove, found that approximately 88 tablets were missing from their inventory.
A keycard access audit showed that Delgado entered the secure facility, where the tablets are stored, after work hours, Mandujano said.
Delgado did so on three dates in March of this year, Mandujano said.
Delgado reportedly gave a full confession to police after being interviewed.
Officers identified someone who purchased 20 tablets from Delgado. The witness confirmed they purchased the tablets from Delgado.
Each tablet has a cost of $1,000, which amounts to an $88,000 loss, Mandujano said.
Lake County Judge James Simonian set Delgado’s bond at $30,000.
The man was released from the Lake County Jail after posting $3,000 cash.
A status of attorney hearing is scheduled for September 29.
