Felipe E. Wahlstedt, 29, of Huntley.

A registered sexual predator, who is on probation, has been charged after he was allegedly inside a vehicle at an elementary school in Huntley while students were being dismissed for the day.

Felipe E. Wahlstedt, 29, of 11860 Cape Cod Lane in Huntley, was charged with child sex offender present in a school zone, a Class 4 felony.

An arrest warrant was issued for him last week.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on September 13.

Wahlstedt was inside of a vehicle at Leggee Elementary School, 13723 Harmony Road in Huntley, according to the complaint.

Children were being dismissed for the day from the school at the time Wahlstedt was present, the complaint said.

Wahlstedt is a registered sexual predator, according to the Illinois State Police.

Wahlstedt was convicted in 2013 and 2015 of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim who was 13-16 years old.

Court records show Wahlstedt also has multiple felony cases in recent years in McHenry County for failing to comply with his sex offender registration guidelines.

In July 2021, Wahlstedt was charged with child sex offender present in a school zone, which occurred in Lake in the Hills on different dates in March 2021 and June 2021.

Wahlstedt pleaded guilty to one of the three charges in September 2021 and was sentenced to 180 days in jail and 30 months of probation.

Prosecutors have since filed a petition to revoke his probation in that case following his newest case.

Court records show an active warrant remains for Wahlstedt.
