Police say a person of interest has been identified after a victim was shot and buildings were struck by gunfire in Zion late Thursday evening.
The Zion Police Department and Zion Fire-Rescue Department responded around 10 p.m. Thursday to the 2100 block of Hebron Avenue for a shooting.
Zion Police Department Lt. Paul Kehrli told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that one person was injured in the incident.
According to fire department radio traffic, the victim was shot once in the ankle.
Paramedics transported the injured victim to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan for treatment.
Kehrli said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Some apartment buildings were struck by gunfire but no one else besides the one victim was shot.
A suspect of interest has been identified but has not been charged yet, Kehrli said.
Further information on what led to the shooting or how many shots were fired was not immediately available.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Zion Police Department.
