Dustin D. Hanabarger, 33, of Union.

A judge has denied prosecutors’ request to increase bond for a McHenry County man who was out on bond for multiple window peeping cases when he was arrested again for window peeping in Woodstock.

Dustin D. Hanabarger, 33, of the 6400 block of Dunham Road in Union, was charged in his latest case with disorderly conduct, a Class 4 felony.

Hanabarger was seen looking through a window of a residence “under the cover of darkness” on September 16, according to a criminal complaint.

The incident occurred at an apartment building in the 1400 block of Commons Drive in Woodstock.

Hanabarger was arrested by the Woodstock Police Department the next day.

McHenry County Assistant State’s Attorney Ashur Youash said in a motion that Hanabarger has been convicted for window peeping offenses in 2011 in McHenry County and in 2020 in Lee County.

Youash said that Hanabarger was also out on bond for multiple pending window peeping cases in McHenry County at the time of his latest arrest.

Court records show there are three additional pending window peeping cases, which all occurred in Woodstock.

Youash said the victim in a February window peeping case, which occurred on Seminary Avenue, was upset that Hanabarger had been released on bond after he had been arrested.

The woman suffers from anxiety about Hanabarger being “free,” Youash said.

The victim in a June window peeping case, which occurred on Willow Brooke Drive, felt unsafe after Hanabarger was released from custody following that incident, Youash said.

The motion filed by prosecutors sought to have a judge increase Hanabarger’s bond from $20,000 to $100,000 because he is a “danger to the public.”

Prosecutors also requested that Hanabarger be fit with a GPS tracking device restricting him to home confinement should he be able to post bond.

McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge held a hearing on Wednesday regarding the motion.

Coppedge denied prosecutors’ request to increase the bond but did grant the request to have Hanabarger placed on electronic monitoring should he be released.

Coppedge also ordered Hanabarger to be confined to his home except for work should he be released.

Hanabarger, who remains held in the McHenry County Jail, is scheduled to appear in court again on October 14 for an arraignment hearing.

Hanabarger is also facing separate McHenry County cases for violating an order of protection, driving under the influence and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

He would need to post $2,100 cash in order to be released from the jail.
