A Wisconsin man has been charged with grooming a child and sexually abusing them over a span of several years in Marengo, court documents show.
Aaron E. Somerville, 31, of the 900 block of Bonnie Brae Lane in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, was charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child and one count of grooming.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Somerville committed a sex act with the victim from June 2013 to June 2021.
The victim was younger than 13 years old at the time.
The complaint also said Somerville used Snapchat in February to lure or seduce the child, who is currently under the age of 17.
The case was investigated by the Marengo Police Department.
A McHenry County judge issued an arrest warrant for Somerville on September 23 after prosecutors approved charges.
Somerville was ordered held on a $50,000 bond.
He was arrested on Tuesday and released from the McHenry County Jail after posting 10% of his bond.
The most serious charge, aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child, is a Class 2 felony punishable by up to seven years in prison.
