The coroner’s office has released the identity of a 25-year-old who died after being shot multiple times in an alley driveway in Zion on Saturday.

An autopsy showed Mario Dailey III, 25, of Zion, died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, according to Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton.

The Zion Police Department and Zion Fire Rescue Department responded around 7:15 a.m. Saturday to the 2900 block of Gabriel Avenue in Zion for a call of a person down.

Police said they received a call for an unresponsive person lying on the ground in a driveway in an alley.

Officers arrived on the scene and found the victim, determined to be Dailey.

Paramedics confirmed the man to be deceased from gunshot wounds.

The Lake County Major Crime Task Force responded to the scene to assist in the investigation.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Monday on Dailey.

The Zion Police Department and Lake County Major Crime Task Force continue to investigate the homicide.
