A motorcyclist was flown to the hospital by a LifeNet helicopter after she lost control and crashed off the roadway near Crystal Lake Sunday evening.
The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 5:15 p.m. Sunday to Crystal Springs Road and Cherry Valley Road in unincorporated Crystal Lake.
Firefighters and deputies arrived to find a 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle crashed off the roadway.
McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Communication Specialist Emily Matusek said the 35-year-old woman operating the motorcycle was attempting to navigate the curve in the roadway.
The woman did not reduce speed enough while traveling along the curve and drove into the brush off the roadway, Matusek said.
Paramedics reported over the radio that the victim suffered traumatic injuries.
An ambulance transported the woman to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry.
The LifeNet helicopter that is based at the hospital then flew the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
The woman’s condition was not known but Matusek said the injuries were not life-threatening.
Matusek said alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the crash.
