An 18-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after he allegedly fired shots at a home in Crystal Lake while someone was inside it, court documents show.
Joel B. Kattner, 18, of the 600 block of Concord Drive in Crystal Lake, was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, use of a stolen firearm in the commission of a crime, possession of a stolen firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm and defacing a firearm.
A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court said the shooting occurred on July 10 in the 900 block of Coventry Lane in Crystal Lake.
Kattner was armed with a .380 caliber handgun, which was stolen, the complaint said.
Kattner discharged the gun at a residence on the block while the home was occupied, the complaint said.
The complaint added that Kattner acted recklessly and endangered the safety of at least one individual.
No injuries were reported. The stolen gun used in the incident had its serial number defaced.
The Crystal Lake Police Department did not respond to a request for comment regarding additional details in the case.
Officers with the Crystal Lake Police Department arrested Kattner on Wednesday.
McHenry County Judge Mark Gerhardt ordered Kattner held on a $150,000 bond.
The most serious charge against Kattner is aggravated discharge of a firearm, which is a Class 1 felony that carries a sentence of four to 15 years in prison.
Kattner remains held in the McHenry County Jail and would need to post $15,000 cash in order to be released.
A bond review hearing and status of preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
