A 43-year-old man from Waukegan who was reported missing late last week was found dead a day later in Wisconsin, his family said.

John A. Cairo, 43, of Waukegan, was last seen on Friday at Abbott Park in Lake County.

He was believed to be driving a Toyota RAV4 and his family said he was possibly a danger to himself.

Cairo was reported missing to the Waukegan Police Department.

Cairo, who is a former Kenosha, Wisconsin resident, was found dead on Saturday in Racine County, Wisconsin.

“John has been found. Unfortunately it was not the outcome we hoped for. We thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and concern,” a relative said on social media.

According to his obituary, Cairo earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and was employed at Abbott Laboratories as a Senior Manufacturing Specialist.

Cairo leaves behind a wife. They recently celebrated their 17th anniversary together, his obituary said.

Cairo and his wife enjoyed traveling and had visited many different places, according to his obituary.

The man’s family thanked the Waukegan Police Department and the Racine County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in coming to Cairo’s aid “in his time of need.”

A visitation was held Thursday morning followed by a private burial, his obituary said.
