A man in his 20s fled into an apartment building in Waukegan for help after he was shot outside the building Wednesday morning, police said.
The Waukegan Fire Department and Waukegan Police Department responded around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to Lakeside Towers, 200 Julian Street in Waukegan, for a shooting.
Waukegan Deputy Police Chief Joe Florip told Lake and McHenry County Scanner that officers found one victim shot upon arrival.
It was initially reported two people may have been shot but officers confirmed only one victim was injured.
Florip said investigators believe the victim, a man in his 20s, was outside the apartment building when he was shot.
The man, who is a Waukegan resident, went inside Lakeside Towers for help.
Florip said a light-colored sedan is believed to be involved in the shooting but further information on the suspect or suspects was not available for release.
Paramedics transported the man by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening and his condition has been stabilized, Florip said.
